About Me

Author BIO

Meet the Storyteller

As a lifetime storyteller, I have been the playwright of professionally produced plays and vignettes, Executive Editor for the award-winning Meadowhawk Press, professional blogger for English Tea Store, and an award-winning author of poetry, short stories, novels, and screenplays.

I am a science fiction, fantasy, and horror geek through and through, and it reveals itself in my novels and screenplays. I have won numerous national awards for my narrative fiction, and my scripts have produced film from feature-length movies to merchandise and program commercials, fundraising promos, and narrative short films. My approach to directing reflects my fiction; driving the story to reveal itself through its characters. My films have showcased in festivals from the Mid-South to Boston and New York.

My other artistic pursuits usually make me messy; in the studio splashing paint, or using my beloved needle and thread to make fabric into something else.

My love for creativity is at the heart of my message. I have taught workshops and seminars around the country, and organized writers’ conferences in the southeast.

I’m also a gamer girl from the days of Atari. My favorite sort of Saturday is spent with a stack of books, a cup of tea, and couch time with my boxer, Effie.

DIRECTOR BIO

Meet the Writer/Director

I grew up in Michigan, communing with trees when I wasn’t writing angsty teenage poetry. Since then, I’ve become a veteran of the United States Air Force, a mom, and a national award-winning editor and author of genre-bending science fiction, fantasy, horror, and paranormal short stories, novels, and screenplays.

I have been a member of Science Fiction Writers of America and Horror Writers Associations. I was named honorable mention in L. Ron Hubbard’s Writers of the Future Award and am a winner of the Mary Shelley Award for Imaginative Fiction. In addition, during my tenure as Executive Editor of Meadowhawk Press, the indie house captured Science Fiction’s Philip K. Dick Award, only the fourth time in history this award has gone to a small press.

I am also writer/director of Big Imagine, an indie publisher and film studio established to also explore my visual fiction as a makeup FX artist and filmmaker; because I believe there’s more than one way to tell a good story.
